Team Serpent Ireland are delighted to announce the signing of Derek McCloskey to head their efforts in the Irish 1:8 Off Road competition scene using the new Cobra S811. A multiple champion in electric 1:10 Off Road, the experienced off and onroad racer will debut the buggy this weekend at he penultimate round of the Irish National Championships at the BADMCC track in Northern Ireland as part of his preparations for a full 2011 season campaign. Carlisle Radio Model Car Club hosted the final round of the popular Much-More Racing (UK) GP series this weekend with over 60 racers contending for the pro-stock and modified titles over two days of racing. Schumacher driver, Dewi Jones took the pro-stock win for the round. Shepherd Ireland has continued their winning streak at the 4th round of the Irish Championship held two weekends ago. Velox V8 driver Ian Campbell and Velox V10 driver Chris Steel both again had a perfect weekend taking TQ, winning the A-final and setting the best laptime. At the beginning of the 1/8th final Campbell battled with Mugen driver Clive Connolly, who started from 2nd on the grid. Hobbywing Xtreme Stock ESC

Hobbywing have released their new Xtreme Stock ESC, which boasts a smaller footprint and lighter weight over its predecessor. Featuring a 3/4 aluminium case, if you are using boost and the turbo function it can only support 8.5T motor and above. If you disable the boost and the turbo function, which is not needed for modified racing, you can use a motor down to a 5.5T, excellent for off road and on road applications.
